EU blacklists 6 Russian officials, institute over Navalny incident

BRUSSELS, Oct 15 (PRIME) -- The E.U. imposed sanctions on six Russian officials, who are prohibited from entry into the Union and whose assets will be frozen  and the State Scientific Research Institute of Organic Chemistry and Technology (GosNIIOKHT) over the alleged poisoning of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny on Thursday.

The list comprises Director of the Federal Security Service Alexander Bortnikov, First Deputy Director of the Presidential Administration for Internal Policies Sergei Kiriyenko, Head of the Internal Policies Department of the Presidential Administration Andrei Yarin, presidential envoy to Siberia Sergei Menyailo, Deputy Defense Ministers Pavel Popov and Alexei Krivoruchko.

The sanctions also forbid financing the blacklisted officials.
